Introduction Talents Tokyo 2017 :
During the 6 days of the 18th TOKYO FILMeX held from November 18-26, 2017, the filmmaker development project “Talents Tokyo 2017″ will be conducted through the supervision of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture), the Japan Foundation Asia Center and the Talents Tokyo Organizing Committee (TOKYO FILMeX), in cooperation with Berlinale Talents, in collaboration with GOETHE-INSTITUT Tokyo.

Bringing together 15 upcoming promising filmmakers and producers, film experts at the forefront of cinema will share their experiences through lectures.
Each participant will have the benefit of presenting his/her own project. Four experts and local industry professionals will analyze each project on its various aspects, such as directing, producing and investment viability.
This year, two alumni’s new films have been selected to Cannes Film Festival. A recent film <Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts> directed by Mouly SURYA (2010) has been selected to the Directors Fortnight and the debut feature by HIRAYANAGI Atsuko (2011), <OH LUCY!> will be shown at the Critics Week. Both films also received the support of Next Masters Support Program, a initiative to support Talents Tokyo alumni.
This talents aims to inspire promising filmmakers to develop their voices and become the “Next Masters”.
