Jury's comment:
The director, SHAN Zuolong, tells a very strong story about two generations of silk workers in a small town in Eastern China. The documentary reflects the situation of China today: moving from the planned economy to the market economy. The jury believes in this local story for an international audience, it is accessible to everyone; the tone is calm and peaceful.
With the prize of the Talent Campus Tokyo, the jury wants to help ensure that the film SONG OF THE MULBERRIES could be finished soon.

" The Boy in White " by Mohd Afiq DEEN (Malaysia)

THE BOY IN WHITE is a coming-of-age film, partly based on a true story. The director Afiq DEEN uses a parents' divorce as starting point for his comedy-drama, this includes an elaborate description of today's society in Malaysia, on Islam and modernity.
