SUWA Nobuhiro

Born in 1960. Suwa was involved in producing independent films while studying at Tokyo Zokei University. After graduating from the university, Suwa began directing television documentary films, and 2/DUO was released in 1996, winning the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. M/OTHER (1999) won the prestigious FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. His filmography includes H STORY (2001), PARIS JE T'AIME (2006, an omnibus film), A PERFECT COUPLE (2005, won the Special Prize of the Jury at the Locarno International Film Festival), YUKI & NINA (2009), and many more. Suwa is known as his unique use of improvisation techniques. Suwa has been a professor at the Graduate School of Film and New Media at Tokyo University of the Arts since 2014.
