Introduction Talents Tokyo 2014 :

During the 6 days of the 15th TOKYO FILMeX held from November 24-29, 2014, the filmmaker cultivation project "Talents Tokyo 2014" will be conducted through the supervision of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Arts Council Tokyo and the Talents Tokyo Organizing Committee (TOKYO FILMeX), in cooperation with Berlinale Talents, in collaboration with GOETHE-INSTITUT Tokyo.

The theme for this year's edition of Talents Tokyo is "Mission Possible: Defining Filmmakers' Positions".

The 21st century greeted us with the waves of globalization. The work environments in the arts have grown increasingly diversified, leaving the creators disoriented at times.

For the Asian filmmakers sailing out on such tide, it may be crucial to understand one's position first. During the week of Talents Tokyo, the participants come to identify their current positions and devise respective positioning through the interaction and networking with the Experts and their fellow Talents. The lasting networks will not only serve as a mirror but also help them thrive beyond the workshops towards a fruitful future.

Talents Tokyo 2014 provides each Talent with an opportunity to discover his or her own map and compass, which today's filmmakers in Asia should all utilize (or so the organizers believe) to catch the smallest wave in the vast ocean of the film industry.

Bringing together 15 upcoming promising filmmakers and producers, film experts at the forefront of cinema will share their experiences through lectures.

Each participant will have the benefit of presenting his/her own project. Four experts and local industry professionals will analyze each project on its various aspects, such as directing, producing and investment viability.

Last year, three films at TOKYO FILMeX competition were made by alumni, Anthony CHEN (2010), Pornmanus RATTANAVICH (2011) and Hannah ESPIA (2012).

This talents aims to inspire promising filmmakers to develop their voices and become the "Next Masters".
