[For the Alumni] Next Masters Support Program
Program: Next Masters Support Program is open only for the Alumni of Next Masters Tokyo 2010, TCT 2011-2013 and TT 2014-2016.
Project Purpose:
From 2010, the organizers of Talents Tokyo have run the filmmaker cultivation project, which was previously called “Next Masters Tokyo” (2010) and Talent Campus Tokyo (2011-2013). From 2014, we started a new initiative to support alumni from these events by providing grants from a Project Development Fund (a) and an International Promotion Fund (b). And from 2015, another program called Fellowship Program (c) joined in this initiative.
a) The Project Development Fund may be used for the further development of alumni projects. Grants are intended to support:
– scriptwriting for works of fiction
– research costs for documentaries
– casting and auditions
– location scouting
– presentation of projects to producers, investors or financiers
– participation in international film markets
– finding project partners at co-production meetings
b) Grants from the International Promotion Fund are intended to support:
– participating in film festivals to show your film
– subtitling
– hiring a PR agent
– DCP duplication
Participation Conditions:
This program is comprised of two funds: a) a Project Development Fund, and b) an International Promotion Fund.
Eligibility
Applicants must be alumni of either Next Masters Tokyo, Talent Campus Tokyo, Talents Tokyo between 2010 and 2016.
About Applicants
II, (For a only) The applicant must have a project that they wish to bring to fruition.
(For b only) The applicant’s film must NOT have been shown anywhere in the world.
III, The applicant must prepare all of the necessary Application Materials, and all must be in English.
IV, The applicant must have a bank account that can receive a grant transferred from Tokyo, Japan.
V, The applicant must submit all Application Materials via email AND via post.
VI, The applicant can submit only ONE PROJECT.
About Projects
VI. Projects may receive support from other funds etc.
VII. Selected projects must include a Talent Tokyo logo in their opening titles. This will be provided by the program organizers.

From May 15 to June 30
Application Materials for both a) and b) must be submitted within the Submission Period stated above.

a) Project Development Fund:
Submitted projects must be for a feature-length fiction or documentary film.
Application Materials:
i) A Submission Form specifying the project’s status;
ii) A one-page Outline of the project, “One pager”;
iii) A Finance & Budget Plan (USD);
iv) A Production Plan;
v) A Treatment (5 pages) ;
*Applications that do not include all Application Materials will NOT be accepted as submitted projects.
Talents Tokyo will award a Project Development Fund grant of up to 1 million JPY (approx. 8,704 USD) to the selected project.
Note: Talent Tokyo is 100% public-funded, so all requirements must be strictly adhered to. Please read Participation Conditions (I-VII) and Application Materials (i-v) carefully and fulfill all the stated obligations.
b ) International Promotion Fund:
Submitted projects must be for a feature-length fiction or documentary film.
Application Materials:
i) a Submission Form specifying the project’s status;
ii) A one-page Outline of the project, “One pager”;
iii) A Budget Plan (USD);
iv) A Finance & Production Plan;
v) A Promotion Strategy Plan;
vi) A Screener (DVD).
*Applications that do not include all Application Materials will NOT be accepted as submitted projects.
Talents Tokyo will award an International Promotion Fund grant of up to 500,000 JPY (approx. 4,352 USD) to the selected project.
Note: Talent Tokyo is 100% public-funded, so all requirements must be strictly adhered to. Please read Participation Conditions (I-VII) and Application Materials (i-vi) carefully and fulfill all the stated obligations. Please note that the description you wrote in “One pager”, Application Material (ii), will be published at Talents Tokyo website.
Obligations:
Successful applicants must present the following materials regarding the outcome of their grant to Talent Tokyo no later than February 28, 2018:
a) a completed Script (or an Advanced Treatment in the case of a documentary)
b) a comprehensive Report, including a financial report.
Successful applicants must keep Talent Tokyo updated regarding the progress of their project.
