Born 1955 in Kobe city, KUROSAWA started filming 8mm films while residing in Rikkyo University and had his commercial film debut in 1983. He received international attention with “Cure” (1997). His film “Bright Future” (2002) was selected for 56th Cannes Competition section. Other films include “Tokyo Sonata” (2008) which won the Cannes Un Certain Regard Prix du Jury, “Journey to the Shore” (2014) which won the Cannes Un Certain Regard Award for Best Director, and his first French film “Daguerrotype” (2016). His newest film “Wife of a Spy” (2020) won the Silver Lion at the 77th Venice International Film Festival.
