[For the Alumni] Next Masters Support Program

Program: Next Masters Support Program is open only for the Alumni of Next Masters Tokyo 2010, TCT 2011-2013 and TT 2014-2021.

Project Purpose:
From 2010, the organizers of Talents Tokyo have run the filmmaker development project, which was previously called 窶廸ext Masters Tokyo窶 (2010) and 窶弋alent Campus Tokyo窶 (2011-2013). From 2014, we started a new initiative to support alumni from these events by providing grants from (a) Project Development Fund and an (b) International Promotion Fund.

a) The Project Development Fund may be used for further development of projects by alumni.
Grants are intended to support:
窶 scriptwriting for works of fiction
窶 research costs for documentaries
窶 casting and auditions
窶 location scouting
窶 presentation of projects to producers, investors or financiers
窶 participation in international film markets
窶 finding project partners at co-production meetings

b) Grants from the International Promotion Fund are intended to support:
窶 participating in film festivals to show your film
窶 subtitling
窶 hiring a PR agent
窶 DCP duplication

Participation Conditions:
APPLICANTS
I, Applicants and person of contact must be alumni of either Next Masters Tokyo, Talent Campus Tokyo, or Talents Tokyo between 2010 and 2021.

II, (For (a)) The applicant must have a project that they wish to bring to fruition.
(For (b)) The applicant窶冱 film must NOT have been screened anywhere in the world yet.

III, The applicant must prepare every aspect of the necessary Application Materials in English.

IV, The applicant must have a bank account that can receive a grant transferred from Tokyo, Japan.

V, The applicant must submit all Application Materials via email AND via post. The post must reach the Talents Tokyo office BY THE DEADLINE.

VI, The applicant can submit only ONE PROJECT at a time.

PROJECTS
VI. Projects may receive support from other funds etc.

VII. Selected projects must include the Talents Tokyo logo in their opening titles and closing credits. This will be provided by the program organizers.

Submission Guidelines:
Submission Period:
From May 1 to May 31st, 2022
Application Materials for both a) and b) must be submitted within the Submission Period stated above.

a) Project Development Fund:
Submitted projects must be for a feature-length fiction or documentary film.

Application Materials:
i) A Submission Form specifying the project窶冱 status;
ii) An one-page Outline of the project, 窶廾ne pager窶;
iii) A Finance & Budget Plan (USD);
iv) A Production Plan;
v) A Treatment (5 pages) ;

*Applications that do not include all Application Materials will NOT be accepted as submitted projects.

Talents Tokyo will award a Project Development Fund grant of up to 1 million JPY (approx. 9,062 USD) to the selected project.

Note 1: Talents Tokyo is 100% public-funded, so all requirements must be strictly adhered to. Please read Participation Conditions (I-VII) and Application Materials (i-v) carefully and fulfill all the stated obligations.
Note 2: Next Masters Support Program is specifically for Talents Tokyo Alumni. All points of contact must be the applicant himself/herself. Any messages from those that are not from the applicant will be rejected.

b ) International Promotion Fund:
Submitted projects must be for a feature-length fiction or documentary film.

Application Materials:
i) a Submission Form specifying the project窶冱 status;
ii) A one-page Outline of the project, 窶廾ne pager窶;
iii) A Budget Plan (USD);
iv) A Finance & Production Plan;
v) A Promotion Strategy Plan;
vi) A Screener (DVD).

*Applications that do not include all Application Materials will NOT be accepted as submitted projects.

Talents Tokyo will award an International Promotion Fund grant of up to 500,000 JPY (approx. 4,531 USD) to the selected project.

Note 1: Talent Tokyo is 100% public-funded, so all requirements must be strictly adhered to. Please read Participation Conditions (I-VII) and Application Materials (i-vi) carefully and fulfill all the stated obligations. Please note that the description you wrote in 窶廾ne pager窶, Application Material (ii), will be published at Talents Tokyo website.

Obligations:
Successful applicants must:
-send the letter of Bank transfer form via post before the end of September;
-present the following materials regarding the outcome of their grant to Talent Tokyo no later than February 28, 2023.

a) a completed Script (or an Advanced Treatment in the case of a documentary)
b) a comprehensive Report (by word or pdf), including a financial report.
c) include the NMSP logo in their finished project

Successful applicants must keep Talent Tokyo updated regarding the progress of their project.
